The DOX Centre for Contemporary Art is a multi-disciplinary contemporary art institution based in Prague. Founded in 2008 by Leoš Válka, the centre resides in the Holesovice district, a neighborhood once known for its industrial might. The DOX Centre is housed in a complex of renovated industrial buildings dating from the 19th century. The exterior is a blend of the old and new, with the original brickwork of the old structures juxtaposed against the modern and sleek design of the new additions. The centerpiece is a giant airship named "Gulliver", designed by architect Martin Rajniš, that hovers over the courtyard, symbolizing the spirit of adventure and the power of literature to transport us to different worlds. Inside, the centre spans over 3000 square meters of exhibition spaces, making it the largest private institution of its kind in the Czech Republic.
